Dear Families,

Happy New Year! A big thank you goes out to our Kids Hope USA mentors and Crossroads Church for their generous gift of new landscaping, pavers, and painting to spruce up the front of our school. Our broken planter box has been fixed and there is refreshed soil for classes to plant in the boxes. A few more changes are on the way yet!

Report cards will be sent home Friday. We will kick off the new year by reflecting with our students on the goals and action steps set in their portfolios to continue their academic and social growth. Second quarter academic progress will be celebrated at grade level assemblies throughout January. If your child is receiving an award, a note will be sent home.

Our next 7 Mindset for leading a happy and successful life is timely for the new year: 100% Accountable. This mindset teaches us to choose to be responsible for our own happiness and success by acting and thinking for ourselves, overcoming counter mindsets that hold us back, focusing our energy on learning to accomplish our goals, and recognize that life is a process of continual growth.

Brown Bag Lunch will be Friday, January 19. All families are invited to eat with their children during their scheduled lunch times. Cost of an adult lunch is $3.50. Our menu that day is pizza and corn (and it is delicious!)

PTO/Site Council will meet Monday, Jan. 22 at 3:00 to finalize plans for the Feb. 9 family dance. Please join us! Remember to keep clipping and saving Box Tops for Education!

National School Choice Week will be celebrated January 21-27. Thank you for choosing and supporting Mesquite, a place where focused academics and positive mindsets are achieved through engaged learning and joyful relationships.

Have a wonderful month!

Sincerely,

Ms. Holdsworth
