Dear Families,

School letter grades were issued by the state in October, and our grade is C. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 5:00 in the gym I will explain how our scores were calculated. In addition to proficiency and growth on the AZMerit state assessment for grades 3-5, scores are given for areas such as K-5 English Language Learner proficiency, special education, and attendance. Your support in getting students to school each day, on time, and staying until the end of the day makes a difference in the points we earn as a school. Students that have good attendance also are here for maximum learning, which affects their test scores and figures into our grade as well.
In addition to teaching academics, we teach social skills, anti-bullying, and the importance of a positive mindset through the 7 Mindsets Program throughout the week in homerooms and family groups. This past Friday we came together for an assembly on the mindset We are Connected. We watched a video of some of our students talking about how to be kind to everyone and a slideshow showing how we are all connected. Stu-dents Cristian Spradlin and Azael Felix talked to us about their changed mindsets in order have more friends and be of good character because that is respectful, makes them happy, and is the right thing to do. It was a powerful assembly, and I look forward to more in the future. We also had guest speaker Officer Rice talk to gr 3-5 classes about bullying recently. He explained the difference between conflict and bullying, but regardless, the right thing to do is to be kind to each other. If harm is done, the next right thing to do is apologize and not harm again.
Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Holdsworth
